I’m not talking about actual window shopping but rather the new layout/interface that Amazon has been working on for some time.

It’s a little different from most online stores and makes extensive use of Adobe Flash. If you ask me it’s a little easier to navigate because I can see several catergories at once rather than selectively click on them. Some gripes though:
- Color banding. Looks really funky on my display
- Some images appear to be very low resolution samples – Streamyx issue?
- Slightly choppy movement – Scrolling could be a little smoother.
- You have to click on a selection to be able to perform store actions (purchase…..those kind of things)
It’s a WIP and I’m not really a Amazon user, just someone who has a interest in UI design. BTW the blokes who brought you Mozilla are working on something really cool for mobile users Fenec. Not ready for prime time but running on Nokia tablets, it looks like a very nice alternative to the default phone browsers and a good rival to Opera Mini.
Edit: If you’re interested in trying it out here’s the link.
